Quality certification
Offering a service of quality means much more than providing soft, clean towels. It also means giving customers all your attention, foreseeing problems, eliminating architectural barriers, complying with the highest health and hygiene standards, guaranteeing safety and security and, generally, meeting the most demanding requirements.
It is for this reason that, in Catalonia, more than 15,000 highly qualifi ed tourism industry workers put all their efforts into constantly raising the quality of service our country delivers, year after year. Their dedication to and, above all, enthusiasm for the task of ensuring a job well done has helped to make Catalonia stand out amongst our neighbours as a top-quality tourist destination. Proof of this excellence in the level of quality provided is the ever growing number of Catalan establishments awarded such prestigious certifi cation as the Q for tourism quality and the ISO 9001 certificate.
Thanks to this collective commitment to constant improvement, Catalonia accounts for more than 20% of all establishments awarded quality certifi cation in Spain. Needless to say, this high quality of service is reflected, above all, in customer satisfaction.

Environmental certification
Fortunately, there are ways in which customer satisfaction and environmental conservation can go hand-in-hand: using renewable energy, recycling as much waste as possible, optimising consumption and, in general, making sure that what gives us pleasure as people does no harm to the rest of the planet.
The Catalan tourism industry is taking up a leading position in this fi eld. We want to give an example to other tourist destinations. And that is just what we are doing. No fewer than 183 tourism and leisure facilities in our country have already been awarded the ISO 14001 or EMAS seals of approval or the Guarantee of Environmental Quality, three certificates that only establishments most firmly committed to the concept of sustainable tourism can even consider applying for.
In this way, we manage to satisfy even the most demanding customer: the environment.

Quality destinations
The Integral System for Quality Tourist Destinations (SICTED) is a quality management system granted by the Spanish Ministry of the Economy’s State Secretariat for Tourism and Trade and the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
The aim of SICTED is to make municipalities aware of how to identify common objectives among different involved stakeholders whether they be public or private, tourist-related or non-tourist-related, and to promote them together as an added value of quality to the tourist offer in the destination.
